Hegene Lee, Palo Alto High School, Computer History Museum
Silicon valley is famous for its innovations and creative ideas; as high school student in Silicon Valley, I thought it was interesting to take a photo of an old console at computer history museum in Mountain View. I like how old computers are not graphic – user interfaced but all text – based unlike modern day computers. That makes this photo abstract as well.
This photograph forces me to feel the disconnect between humans and technology. Like you said, older computers displayed solely text, unlike technology today which aims to assimilate with human interactions.
To me, this image creates a disconnect between the “natural” world and technology. “A small stream” as text has a different meaning than a small stream as a feature in the landscape.
I really like the detail in the picture and the angle from which it is taken
