Kent Slaney, Palo Alto High School, Grant Swamp Pass CO

I took this photograph during the 85th mile of the Hardrock 100 mile run. When I took it, it was a singular moment, but as I look at it now it depicts the the entire run, and why I began running. The majesty of the mountains shows the beauty of running that I share with others, and the secret valley below, with a river snaking through it, shows how running is also something that I hold in myself, as my own.
